Few-flowered leek: Allium paradoxum
The leek with the bell-shaped flowers
Few-flowered leek can grow in a dense, lawn-like stand. It is edible like spring onions, although the “tuber” remains somewhat smaller and the whole plant has a more delicate growth. The leaves are lancet-shaped and long. Notable are the bell-shaped, white flowers and the tubers, which grow in storeys. Few-flowered leek appears even before the similar tasting wild garlic and has already disappeared with the beginning of summer.
The wonder garlic is a neophyte in various countries as well as in Germany. Its original home is the Caucasus.
